Steam distilled from the leaves. The Manuka bush has been used for centuries by the Maori people as poultices and infusions for its curative powers. This essential oil is a very powerful weapon against bacteria and fungus, and has practical applications for acne, toenail fungus, athlete's foot, jock itch, insect bites and stings, as well as joint pain and rheumatism. More powerful than Tea Tree essential oil and better tolerated, Manuka essential oil can be applied at full strength for really stubborn toenail fungus, athlete's foot or acne, or applied well diluted without losing its effectiveness. Manuka oil has a woody, warm, spicy scent similar to (but nicer than) Tea Tree. Manuka mixes well with Clove, Clary Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, Rosemary, Pine, & Cedarwood essential oils.
