Where can I buy your soap products?
Our soap bars are currently available online directly from us, and in select stores in British Columbia, Canada. Click here to see a list of locations.
Can your soap be used as shampoo? Absolutely! The lavish and luxurious lather of all our transparent soap bars makes them great for use as shampoo. We find after long term use, we need no conditioners or rinses (or gel, mousse or hairspray!) and our hair looks shiny and feels soft and healthy. If your hair is damaged from using detergent shampoo, blow-drying, perms, or colourants, you may wish to continue using your regular conditioner until the damaged hair grows out. Hair is easily damaged and cannot be repaired - just coated or cut off. Anything you do to it (even towel drying it) will damage the hair and roughen the hair strands. Our soap does not damage the hair's protein structure unlike detergent shampoos can. Undamaged hair feels and looks thicker and shinier and is softer and more manageable, and takes less time to blow-dry. Not only does our soap leave your hair smelling nice, it is better for your hair!
Do you test your products on animals? We do not test our products on animals, and our ingredients are also not tested on animals.
Does your soap leave a strong scent on the skin after using? Although our soaps may seem strong when you first unwrap the bar, our soap leaves just a gentle essential oil scent on the skin after use that doesn’t linger for long. Each different scent variety provides you with its own unique and wonderful aromatherapy experience, making even washing dirty hands pleasurable.
What if I get it in my eyes?
Any natural, pure soaps will naturally sting your eyes. Our natural handmade transparent soap is, by its nature, pure soap, and you’ll know if you get it in your eyes because it will hurt. If you did not as a child ever hear from someone, “don’t get soap in your eyes”, and did not learn this simple childhood growing pains lesson of basic personal hygiene for yourself, then pay attention: don’t get soap in your eyes. Of course, if you ever do get any kind of soap in your eyes, don’t panic. Simply rinse your eyes with plenty of water and your body will naturally restore comfort to your eyes quickly.
Do you recommend using your transparent soap on babies?
Our soap is gentle enough for their tender skin. Keep the soap away from their eyes because this handcrafted natural soap is not a synthetic chemical based “no-tears” detergent formula.
Do you recommend using your transparent soap on pets?
We use our transparent soap to wash our dogs with great results! Keep the soap away from their eyes because this handcrafted natural soap is not a synthetic chemical based “no-tears” detergent formula.
Why do other soap companies make medical claims about their products, and you don't? We don't make any medical claims about our soap because we cannot do so by law. However, we will tell you that it is common knowledge passed down for generations that there are many well known and thoroughly documented health benefits to using pure essential oils for aromatherapy. Lavender essential oil alone, for example, possesses many of these positive qualities. Although there is much anecdotal evidence to support the health benefits provided by using natural soap or essential oils, anecdotal evidence is never recognized by an establishment that is based on making the largest profit for the lowest cost. If a medical claim is made by a soap company, there must be sufficient scientific evidence from scientific studies that the claim is valid (judged by a government agency), and stricter use and labeling guidelines also come into effect. Soap would no longer be classified as a cosmetic, but as a drug. We suggest that people read all claims very carefully, and pay special atttention to the number of times non-specific words are used. For example, cosmetic claims will read: 'May reduce the look of fine lines' versus the medical (drug) claim: 'Reduces the number of wrinkles'. With cosmetic selling points, the consumer must realize that most of these are only meant as a way to separate you from your money. Sometimes, drug claims are made for a cosmetic, because the company is betting that they won't be investigated by Health Canada. When you come across claims you think are outrageous, ask the company that made them about their research to back up the claim, or ask Health Canada for free information and advice.
Why do you use only natural ingredients? We like the idea that high quality, effective and beautiful products can be made using natural raw materials, such as those you’ll find in our natural handmade transparent soap bars: saponified coconut oil, castor bean oil and vegetable stearic acid; vegetable glycerine; sugar; and water; plus pure essential oils for scent and aromatherapy benefit, and natural colours from seed and root extracts. Why use synthetic chemicals when nature gives perfectly good ingredients that are also renewable resources? Synthetic chemicals are typically not produced in a sustainable manner and many have unpleasant side effects for a large portion of the population, as well as the environment. So, for formulating, colouring and scenting our soaps we use natural ingredients instead of synthetic petroleum products, fragrances and dyes.
